SUPADIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT PONTIANAK
DESIGN ARCHITECT
BIDDING DESIGN FROM INDULEXCO JAKARTA
The Supadio International Airport Pontianak Bidding Design (2010) was developed as part of a competitive proposal to upgrade and expand the airport terminal, strengthening its role as the primary aviation gateway to West Kalimantan. Led by Indulexco Jakarta, the design aimed to present a modern, efficient, and regionally expressive airport concept aligned with international aviation standards.
The proposal emphasized clear functional zoning and passenger flow, ensuring smooth transitions between arrival, departure, and operational areas. Terminal planning was structured to support future growth, operational efficiency, and enhanced passenger comfort—key requirements in contemporary airport design.
Architecturally, the bidding design sought to express a distinct regional identity, drawing inspiration from local culture and climatic conditions of Pontianak’s equatorial environment. The building form and façade concept integrated shading strategies, controlled daylight, and layered architectural elements to respond to heat and humidity while creating a strong civic presence.
As a bidding-stage project, the Supadio International Airport design demonstrated a forward-looking approach to transport infrastructure architecture—balancing technical performance, cultural expression, and scalability. The proposal reflects Indulexco’s capability in delivering comprehensive airport concepts that combine functionality with a meaningful sense of place.
