Vision & Inspiration
Oasis Resort is envisioned as a destination where world-class hospitality is seamlessly integrated with the natural landscape and local community. Conceived as a premier resort for both domestic and international travelers, the project seeks to create an immersive retreat while preserving, enhancing, and celebrating its surrounding environment.
The initial concept for Oasis Resort was formulated through a synthesis of prior consultant studies, on-site observations of leading hotels and sustainable eco-lodges, and in-depth discussions with Mr. Patric and his team. These inputs informed a design approach that balances operational excellence, environmental responsibility, and a strong sense of place.
The Name: OASIS
An oasis is a fertile sanctuary sustained by water in the midst of a harsh landscape—a place of rest, renewal, and life.
The name Oasis reflects the aspiration to create a true sanctuary: a welcoming refuge for international and domestic travelers, a valued communal space for the surrounding community, and a protected habitat for local flora and fauna. The resort is envisioned as a living ecosystem where nature, people, and hospitality coexist in harmony.
Site Planning
The masterplan adopts a clustered layout along the lakefront and the rubber tree–covered hills, carefully responding to the site’s topography and microclimate. Existing features, including the fish pond and chicken farm, are preserved and integrated into the overall spatial strategy, reinforcing the resort’s relationship with the land and local livelihoods.
Architectural Concept
Inspired by the tropical climate, local character, and site-specific environmental conditions, the architecture of Oasis Resort emphasizes passive design strategies to enhance comfort and sustainability:
- High ceilings to promote natural ventilation and heat dissipation
- Roof ventilation systems to support continuous air circulation
- Thick cavity walls for improved thermal performance
- Building orientation parallel to the lake to maximize cross-ventilation
- Light, soothing exterior colors to reduce heat absorption
- Use of reflective, low heat-absorption materials
- Extensive shading through trees and layered landscaping
- Generous ground cover to mitigate heat gain in open areas
The architectural language is conceived as contemporary tropical, enriched with decorative motifs inspired by Ivory Coast culture. While initial surveys and reference materials were limited, subsequent design development will further integrate local architectural elements to deepen the project’s cultural authenticity.
Structure & Construction
Buildings will be engineered for long-term performance, durability, and ease of maintenance. Construction materials will be sourced locally in Abidjan wherever possible, prioritizing corrosion-resistant, sustainable, and low-maintenance solutions that support the local economy.
Interior Design
Interior spaces draw inspiration from traditional Adzope woven fabrics, expressed through warm, earthy tones and tactile textures. A dominant ivory-yellow hue—symbolic of Côte d’Ivoire’s elephants—forms the backdrop, celebrating national identity and cultural heritage. Local craftsmanship, art pieces, and handcrafted details will be integrated throughout to create interiors that are both refined and deeply rooted in place.
Floral Concept
Fresh flowers are a defining element of the Oasis Resort experience, reinforcing the sense of vitality and care:
- A large, elegant floral arrangement will greet guests daily in the reception lobby
- Each restroom will feature at least one freshly picked bloom from the resort’s own garden
- Every restaurant and villa dining table will be adorned with a simple arrangement of fresh flowers
This consistent floral presence enhances sensory experience and reinforces the resort’s identity as a living oasis.
Furniture Design
Furniture will be crafted from natural, lightweight, and durable materials that are resistant to UV exposure, moisture, and mold. Designs prioritize comfort, hygiene, and flexibility, allowing easy reconfiguration as needed.
The color palette draws from the vibrant tones of Adzope textiles, delivering an authentically African aesthetic while maintaining a refined and contemporary hospitality standard.
Lighting Design
Lighting is designed to be warm, intimate, and unobtrusive, enhancing atmosphere without visual glare:
- Pendant lamps and simple chandeliers featuring motifs inspired by African flora and fauna
- Concealed spotlights that illuminate objects rather than the light source itself
- Landscape lighting designed to minimize impact on nocturnal wildlife and preserve the night sky
Landscape Design
The landscape strategy celebrates native ecology and biodiversity, prioritizing indigenous plant species and minimizing imported vegetation:
- Shade and directional planting along roads and jogging tracks
- Ground covers in open areas to support cooling and recreational use
- Ornamental planting near buildings, while natural zones are preserved in their original state
This approach ensures ecological continuity and a strong visual connection to the natural environment.
Mechanical & Electrical Systems
All mechanical and electrical systems are designed for efficiency, durability, and ease of maintenance. Modern, reliable technologies will be employed to support long-term sustainability and operational performance.
Environmental Stewardship
Oasis Resort embraces green building principles throughout planning, design, and operation:
- Minimal cut-and-fill earthworks
- Extensive use of local materials
- Rainwater harvesting and infiltration systems
- Efficient waste management and recycling strategies
- Energy-efficient MEP systems
- Water-saving fixtures and appliances
- Healthy, comfortable indoor environments for guests and staff
Community Empowerment
Existing fish ponds, plantations, and former poultry, pig, and rabbit farms will be revitalized and professionally managed in collaboration with the local community. This program is designed to generate lasting socio-economic benefits while supplying the resort with fresh eggs, vegetables, and fruits—supporting a genuine farm-to-table experience for guests.
