KALHUFAHALAFUSHI RESORT
CONCEPT ARCHITECT
5 STAR RESORT 100 ROOMS AT KOLHUMADULU ATOLL, MALDIVES BY BUSINESS IMAGE GROUP
Kalhufahalafushi Resort is a conceptual five-star resort development designed for a 100-room luxury destination on Kalhufahalafushi Island, located in the Kolhumadulu Atoll (Thaa Atoll) of the Republic of Maldives. The project was created in 2004 by Business Image Group with HST Architect serving as the concept architect.
Set within one of the Maldives’ pristine marine environments, Kalhufahalafushi Resort responded to the island’s natural setting—its turquoise lagoons, coral reefs, and tropical vegetation—with a master plan emphasizing luxury guest experiences, spatial harmony, and environmental integration. The concept focused on arranging the 100 suites to maximize ocean views, seclusion, and breezeways, offering a range of beachfront and over-water accommodations tailored to international leisure markets.
The design approach sought to enhance the island’s natural assets while embedding hospitality facilities that prioritize comfort, privacy, and aesthetic quality. Emphasis was placed on leveraging local landscape patterns, climatic conditions, and cultural expressions to create a destination that feels both intimate and luxurious, characteristic of early 21st-century resort planning in the Maldives.
As a conceptual project, Kalhufahalafushi Resort reflects forward-looking thinking in tropical resort design—balancing guest immersion, environmental sensitivity, and place-based identity in one of the Indian Ocean’s most celebrated destinations.
