DOWA HONJE MANGKUBUMI
DESIGN ARCHITECT
DOWA BAG SHOP & HONJE FINE DINE RESTAURANT – JOGJA BY DELIA & RENDY
Dowa Honje Mangkubumi is a mixed-use lifestyle concept developed in 2014 in the culturally rich Mangkubumi district of Yogyakarta. Conceived as a pairing of a DOWA branded bag boutique and the Honje fine dining restaurant, the project explores the intersection of retail, gastronomy, and place-making within an urban heritage context.
As Concept Architect, the role focused on shaping the overall vision, spatial narrative, and architectural identity—ensuring both programs could coexist while maintaining distinct experiences. The planning strategy emphasizes clear zoning and intuitive transitions, guiding visitors from the public retail frontage into the more intimate dining environment, while preserving privacy, comfort, and operational clarity.
Architecturally, the concept adopts a contemporary interpretation of local character, blending modern forms with contextual references drawn from Yogyakarta’s cultural fabric. Attention is given to scale, proportion, and materiality to create a welcoming street presence, while interior atmospheres are carefully modulated through light, texture, and spatial sequencing to support both brand expression and dining experience.
Dowa Honje Mangkubumi represents an approach to urban commercial architecture that values identity, experience, and contextual sensitivity—transforming a retail-and-dining program into a cohesive destination rooted in Jogja’s creative and cultural landscape.
