THE RIDGE PECATU
DESIGN ARCHITECT
45 VILLA RESORTS AT UNGASAN, BALI BY MGM JAKARTA
The Ridge Pecatu is a 45-villa resort development located on the elevated ridge landscape of Ungasan, within the Pecatu area of Bali. Appointed as Design Architect in 2013, the project was conceived to harness the site’s dramatic topography and expansive coastal vistas while delivering a refined, low-density luxury resort experience.
The masterplan strategy organizes villas along the natural ridge lines to maximize views, privacy, and breezeways, while minimizing land disturbance. Clear zoning separates guest accommodation from shared amenities, ensuring intuitive circulation and operational efficiency without compromising the sense of seclusion expected of a high-end villa resort.
Architecturally, the resort adopts a contemporary tropical language expressed through clean forms, generous roof overhangs, shaded terraces, and seamless indoor–outdoor living spaces. Natural materials and restrained detailing are used to anchor the architecture to its setting, allowing buildings to sit lightly within the landscape and age gracefully in Bali’s coastal climate.
As a resort project, The Ridge Pecatu represents an approach to hospitality design that balances site sensitivity, spatial clarity, and experiential luxury—creating a destination that celebrates Pecatu’s rugged beauty while offering comfort, privacy, and long-term resort value.
