Jimbaran Arcade is a commercial arcade development designed to support retail, dining, and lifestyle activities within the growing Jimbaran area of Bali. Appointed as Design Architect in 2013, the project focused on creating a human-scaled, climate-responsive commercial environment that aligns with Jimbaran’s coastal character and daily rhythms.
The planning concept emphasizes open-air circulation and pedestrian comfort, organizing retail units along shaded walkways and landscaped courtyards. This approach encourages natural ventilation, visual permeability, and social interaction—key qualities for successful tropical commercial spaces. Clear zoning and flexible unit layouts allow the arcade to accommodate a variety of tenants while supporting long-term adaptability.
Architecturally, Jimbaran Arcade adopts a contemporary tropical expression, combining clean forms with deep overhangs, arcades, and textured materials suited to Bali’s climate. The design balances commercial visibility with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, ensuring the development integrates harmoniously with its surrounding neighborhood.
As a neighborhood-scale commercial project, Jimbaran Arcade reflects an approach to retail architecture that prioritizes place-making, comfort, and everyday usability, contributing to Jimbaran’s evolving urban fabric while maintaining a strong sense of local identity.
