Johannes Villa Residence is a private villa retreat located in the tranquil village of Kelusa, north of Ubud, Bali. Designed as a personal residence for Mr. Johannes, based in New York, the villa is conceived as a serene tropical sanctuary that embraces Bali’s natural landscape, cultural depth, and slower pace of life.
Set within a lush hillside and river-valley context, the design emphasizes a strong connection to nature, with living spaces oriented toward expansive views of greenery, rice fields, and distant valleys. The spatial layout prioritizes openness, natural ventilation, and daylight, allowing the villa to respond sensitively to the tropical climate while creating a calm and restorative living environment.
Architecturally, the villa adopts a contemporary tropical language enriched by local sensibilities. Clean lines and modern proportions are balanced with natural materials, shaded terraces, and open pavilions that blur the boundary between indoor and outdoor living.
