Ongki Residence is a bespoke private home designed for Mr. Ongki, located in the residential area of Rempoa, Jakarta. The project is conceived as a comfortable and refined family residence, responding to the site’s urban context while prioritizing privacy, functionality, and everyday livability.
The architectural approach emphasizes clear spatial organization and human scale, creating well-defined zones for family life, social interaction, and retreat. Natural light, ventilation, and visual openness are carefully considered to enhance indoor comfort and reduce reliance on artificial climate control—an important aspect of tropical residential design.
Material selection and detailing are handled with restraint, supporting a timeless, contemporary character that balances practicality with personal expression. Indoor–outdoor relationships are thoughtfully integrated through courtyards, terraces, or transitional spaces, allowing the house to feel open yet protected within its neighborhood setting.
